No Bummer Summer!

Let the summer begin! I set out with one goal for this summer...to have a No Bummer Summer.  I made a list of 50 things I want to do this summer to ensure this goal becomes reality, practical right?  With my realization that this was my first summer in North Carolina, beginning grad school and a new teacher life, and the desire to have some fun...the list was born! These range from beach time to running to memorizing scripture to movie marathons.  Lots of things to look forward to! Now, a normal person would do these in whatever order they want.  Some pool time then a movie then some froyo.  I try to be pretty normal, however no one told me (as this is my first full summer in North Carolina) that it rains. and rains. and rains. and rains. In fact, schools are currently closing early because of the rain.  Looks like cooking and movie days will be the first to be crossed off!

As I slow down this summer and intentionally listen a little closer, the Lord is teaching me more and more about "the well".   There are lots of references in scripture about wells.  It talks of the heart being the wellspring of life. It talks of conversations and transformations that happen at the well. God works there, He fills there, He refreshes His people there, He renews relationships at the well. I want to go back to the Well. Read the Word and listen to Jesus.  I want to sit on the edge of the Well, dangle my feet. For it to overflow and wash over me.  Now that, too, will be a No Bummer Summer.

One of the things that I forget about and it happens every summer is a rekindled love for country music.  I listened to an older one the other day and the line is, "go back to the well and visit old friends and feed my soul..." Thanks Keith Urban, that is what I want to do!

Here's to some good old fashion summer fun!
